Robin Williams Enters Rehab

One never knows when the demon will overtake you - 20 years sober and he drank. What a nightmare. I feel for you Robin. I know what this feels like - drinking after a long term of sobriety. My prayers and my heart goes out to you. Stay strong and remember you are in my prayers. This is why Constant Vigilance is necessary when one is trying to stay sober. It only takes one moment of weakness and the right conditions and I am one step away from a drink.

(August 9, 2006) -- Access Hollywood has confirmed that legendary actor-comedianRobin Williams is in rehabilitation for alcohol treatment.

A publicist for Williams released the following statement:

"After 20 years of sobriety, Robin Williams found himself drinking again and has decided to take proactive measures to deal with this for his own well-being and the well-being of his family. He asks that you respect his and his family's privacy during this time. He looks forward to returning to work this fall to support his upcoming film releases."

No further details are available at this time.

The 55-year-old actor's film credits include "Good Morning, Vietnam," "Mrs. Doubtfire," "Dead Poets Society," "One Hour Photo"and the 2006 comedy "RV."

Williams won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 1998 for his role alongside Matt Damon in "Good Will Hunting."
