Stacks and Pipes...

Did you know that Mount Royal as well the other "Mounts" in the area, Mt. St. Hilaire and all of those very LARGE hills that stand alone when one flies into Montreal and Mount Royal herself are the remnants of living volcanos that may have existed millions of years ago. It was told to us on class the other night that Mount Royal (Montreal) sits on the surface of rock that is Pre-Cambrian and there was over a MILE of rock on top of where we now live, which eroded over millions of years. The other hypothesis is that we sit on top of what is called a "Stack" a pipe of volcanic magma once rose to the surface of a volcano that was once active but never erupted and it solidified and cooled forming the "Mounts" around the city as well, Montreal herself. Which lends to the "Natural - Spiritual - Energy" that can only come from "Living Rock." It is well known that volcanic rock is some of the most fertile rock to grow life. Hence the reason Mount Royal is so green up on the mount. When we CLIMB the mountain, we are scaling living rock, rock that is millions of years old which holds the secrets of "Montreal's Creation" within it, and I like to think that that "ground energy" is life affirming, bodily healing, and spiritually connective for each of us. If that Mountain could talk, I am sure she'd have plenty of stories for us. Which may be one reason that people gather on Sunday's to "beat their drums" the tams. The sound resonating within the rock and against the mountain on any given Sunday is restorative and life affirming. (I've never made this connection before until I just wrote this....) hmmm, I need to go check out my hypothesis. If you have never been to the Tams, on a Sunday afternoon, then email me and we should go one day and at the same time, Climb the Mountain...
