Jeff Buttle: Men's Figure skating

After his silver-medal win at the 2005 World Championship in Moscow, Buttle has his sights set on capturing a goal no Canadian figure skater has ever done – winning a gold medal.

Buttle is heading into the games after successful appearance at the 2005 Grand Prix Final, where he captured silver medal, as well as a runner-up finish at the 2005 Skate Canada International event and a gold medal at the 2005 Trophée Eric Bompard Cachemire.

In 2004-05, Buttle enjoyed his finest season to date, winning gold at both the Canadian Championship and Cup of China, as well as a silver medal performance at the ISU Grand Prix Final in Beijing.

The 23-year-old native of Smooth Rock Falls, Ont., calls Sudbury his hometown. Away from the rink, Buttle is currently working towards completing his degree in chemical engineering at the University of Toronto.
