Canada In Vatican's Crosshairs Over Gay Marriage

You see, the church needs to change or crumble under it's own arrogance, insanity and ignorance. So Holy Father you loose more Catholics by excluding more of us, and I for one, don't need you in my bedroom, let alone my life.

I've known that the Church does not like us GAY people. And I've accepted that. But it made the news tonight, and here is the report. The Holy Mother Church can Kiss my White, Canadian, Gay Ass !!!

(Edmonton, Alberta) Keenan Carley and Robert Bradford became the first couple to obtain a marriage license following the enactment of Canada's national same-sex marriage law earlier this week.

But, as the Edmonton couple was filling out the license form the Vatican was launching a salvo against the Canadian government.

The Vatican's official newspaper called the law a distortion.

"The distortion of God's plan for the family continues," proclaimed L'Osservatore Romano, the Vatican daily. "In Canada, homosexual unions have become equal to marriage."

The Roman Catholic Church in Canada, in line with the Vatican's worldwide policy, vigorously opposed the legislation. It was signed into law Wednesday (story) making Canada the fourth country in the world and the only one in the Americas to legalize same-sex marriage.

Most of Canada had already legalized gay marriage. The federal law covers Alberta, Prince Edward Island and two territories in the far north where courts had not yet ruled on same-sex marriage.

Neither the Vatican's condemnation nor the disapproval of Alberta Premier Ralph Klein deterred Carley and Bradford.

After picking up their marriage license the couple said they were planning a wedding in early September. The men said they don't want to make a big deal about the wedding, but simply want to say they are legally married.

A few blocks away, Premier Klein called it a sad day.

"I believe I speak on behalf of the majority of Albertans," Klein told reporters. "We strongly believe in the traditional definition of marriage."

Klein has promised to draft a law protecting civil marriage commissioners who don't want to perform gay marriages.

Oh, and Premier Klein, you can "kiss my ass" as well, you are barking up the wrong tree if you think you can exclude entire segments of the Alberta population with your conservative views. Maybe you need to step down and give someone else maybe a "liberal or more open minded man or woman to take you job over," so you can go live with the conservative "commune" of men and women who don't like us Gay People !!
